Alabaster DePlume

“The guy absolutely blew my mind... album of the week for me” – Gilles Peterson, BBC 6music

“Totally unique... Very, very brilliant indeed” – Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3

Following 12 monthly development residency concerts and 3 viral video clips, this ruthlessly creative approach to experimental pop music delivers eastern-influenced anthems, under spoken elements that attempt to challenge and address divisive rhetoric recently prevalent in society. With the release of the LP on Lost Map produced by Danalogue (Comet is Coming) and Kristian Capitol K in early 2018, the show described in The Guardian as “a reminder of how vital and adventurous music can be” enjoys an emphasis on candid interaction, humility and warmth. Based in underground East London’s Total Refreshment Centre, saxophonist and spoken word artist Alabaster creates a new band each month in his development residency Peach. PRSF has funded his forthcoming 4th LP The Corner of a Sphere, following recent performances for BBC Radio 3, National Theatre and clubs festivals and theatres around UK.

Leafcutter John

“Alongside Aphex Twin and Bogdan Raczynski – he’s one of the UK’s most fearlessly inventive electronicists” (Time Out London)

Beginning his own musical journey back in 1999 on Mike Paradinas’ Planet Mu Records and with a widely-varied twenty year career in electronic music, John burton is a key member of double mercury-prize nominees Polar Bear. His 5th studio album, Yes! Come Parade With Us, makes use field recordings for the Norfolk coastline and layers of modular synthesis to construct his experimental compositions. An electronics master of both modular synth and Max/MSP who over the years has self-assembled quite the collection of bespoke controllers for his musical performances, the centrepiece of John’s current live show is an arresting light-activated interface which enables a torch-controlled live performance like no other. The sounds produced are strongly related to the performer’s actions and are all produced in real-time to create an immersive audiovisual experience. He’s performed throughout Europe using the system and given talks and workshops with it at various Music and Art Schools.
