This high-energy band pump out addictive beats and rich, hypnotic rhythms guaranteed to get you up on your feet. Afon Sistema play Maracatu, Samba's earthier cousin from Northeastern Brazil, and from studying with the best musicians in Recife, their rhythms are authentic, with their own special Bristol flavour. Traditional songs with haunting harmonies and whirling dancers with dazzlingly colourful skirts complete the picture, making this a feast for all the senses. Professional and tightly choreographed, with musicians drawn from long established Samba groups in the South West and beyond, winners of Bath Carnival, St Pauls Carnival and recently at a Maracatu event in Bordeaux, France in 2019.
