Marla Kether

SVA - Saturday (DJ) and Sunday (Live)

Born in London to Congolese parents, Marla Kether is a bassist, producer and DJ. A session bassist for the likes of Yazmin Lacey, Oscar Jerome and Obongjayar, Marla released her highly-anticipated debut EP ‘All That We Have’ in November, preceded by four singles championed by the likes of Crack Magazine, Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Mary Anne Hobbs, Shanti Celeste, Femi Koleoso and many more. The EP was heralded by Bandcamp Daily as some of ‘The Best Electronic Music of November 2023’, and the closing track ‘BTR2’ is one of DJ Mag’s Top Tracks of 2023, with Harold Heath writing “tunes like ‘BTR2’ take us right back to the pure beating heart of the funk, its potent, mesmerising soft power capable of transporting a room of dancers to groove nirvana.”

Since taking up DJing during lockdown in 2020 Marla has rapidly honed her craft. She’s been busy taking her high-energy sets around the world, securing bookings at Latitude Festival, Loves Saves The Day and supporting Loyle Carner on his US tour in addition to playing in the band. She has also contributed outstanding mixes for the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music, Crack Magazine, NTS and Selector Radio. The different strands of Marla's musical career are almost as diverse as her excellent selections, which commonly feature a bass-led blend of kuduro, dembow, GQOM and Jersey club, as well as house and techno tunes from around the globe.
